Lamborghini Revuelto Launch Party

Hosted by Motorcars of Atlanta

Few manufacturers embrace the indulgence and audacity of exotic cars the way Lamborghini has. Borne of a rivalry with Ferrari, Lamborghini has long subverted many qualities we typically associate with the top tier of performance cars.

Emphasizing sass over class, being more roguish than refined, Lamborghini has always moved with an air of irreverence; styling prioritized aesthetics over aerodynamics or ergonomics, color palettes were bold & vibrant, horsepower was unhinged. Lamborghini didn't even have an honest motorsport division, a mainstay of legendary sports car builders, until very recently.

The space for such brazenness seems to be shrinking in our modern world, so how does a company like Lamborghini adapt? By making their flagship supercar the world's first V-12 plug-in hybrid, of course. The Revuelto melds a classic V-12 powertrain with a contemporary hybrid setup to make an appropriately insane 1,001 bhp. "Appropriately insane" also describes the styling, which was previewed by the 2020 Siàn, not unlike how the 2007 Reventón previewed many cues we'd see in the Aventador.

It's not what I'd typically describe as "beautiful," but it is immensely striking, with zig-zag motifs and Y-shaped accent lighting that will no doubt become design signatures for Lamborghini going forward. I do especially like the rear end, which does an excellent impression of a Northrop YF-23 with its afterburner-esque exhaust ports and tail lights that resemble wings.

I can't thank Motorcars of Atlanta enough for inviting me to celebrate these unveilings. We're so fortunate to have a showroom that serves these magnificent marques, and I'm very grateful to have so many friends in the business to enjoy events like this with. From winning a photo contest, to getting a personal tour of the then-new Aventador SVJ, to the many other parties, shows and test drives since then, Motorcars has done so much to feed my passion for cars.
